Experienced Preschool Teacher | Early Childhood & Special Education Specialist

I’m an experienced preschool teacher with over 20 years of working alongside young children and their families. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s in Special Education, and I’m passionate about creating nurturing, engaging learning environments that support every child’s unique development.

My approach blends structure with play, patience with humor, and learning with lots of love (and yes, the occasional glitter mishap). I believe early education lays the foundation for lifelong learning, and I’m committed to helping each child feel confident, curious, and cared for.

Outside the classroom, you’ll find me enjoying a good book, trying something new, or appreciating the quiet moments — preferably with a cup of coffee in hand.

Rachel Bartell

Rachel Bartell is the Co-Director and Lead Teacher at the Early Learning Center at Temple Israel. She brings more than a decade of experience in early childhood education, with a strong background as a Montessori-certified educator. In addition to her Montessori training, she holds a New Hampshire Early Childhood Certificate.

Before joining the Early Learning Center, Rachel spent eight years as a lead teacher, where she developed a deep passion for guiding children through their earliest stages of learning and growth. After taking time away to raise her family, she returned to the classroom with renewed dedication. Her favorite age group to work with is children ages 2.5 to 6, when curiosity, independence, and imagination are at their peak.

Outside of the classroom, Rachel enjoys reading and cooking, both of which inspire creativity and bring joy to her work with children and families.

The teachers are world class, the facility is safe, clean, bright and warm, and the other families are a joy to be around. My son comes home every day with multiple projects, new words, and stronger interpersonal skills. ELC is everything a parent could want from a preschool. Can't recommend highly enough.

  • My child and I like this school very much. We have spent two unforgettable years here. From knowing almost no English at the beginning to being able to speak, listen, read and write fluently later, she also made good friends in the class and became more confident. The teachers are very professional and careful. They pay attention to every detail and give timely advice and support to children and parents. We also learned a lot of parenting knowledge from the teachers. We especially like the warm and positive atmosphere of the school. There are also many opportunities for parents to interact. It is a very loving community. We are very grateful for our experience here. My child and I absolutely love this preschool. We’ve spent two unforgettable years here. When she first started, she could barely speak any English. Now, she listens, speaks, reads, and writes fluently—and most importantly, she feels happy and confident interacting with her classmates. The teachers here are professional, attentive, and truly care about every child. They notice the small things, and always offer helpful advice and support. As a parent, I’ve also learned so much from them. What we love most is the warm and positive atmosphere. There are plenty of opportunities for parents to connect and participate, and it truly feels like a loving and supportive community. We’re so grateful for everything this school has given us.

  • The Early Learning Center is such a gem. Our daughter has attended for two and a half years so far and loves every moment of her time there. The teachers are wonderful, kind, encouraging, and willing to do whatever it takes to make sure your child succeeds. Our daughter not only learns so much academically, but she has also learned so much socially - there is an emphasis on learning how to be a good friend to all, ways to be a kind/helpful person, and how to contribute positively to your community. The ELC is very communicative with the parents/caregivers and invites families into their little world for school events and holiday celebrations! We couldn’t be happier with this school, and we know our daughter will be more than ready for Kindergarten when the time comes!

  • This hidden gem is a wonderful Montessori style school that teaches kids while engrossed in play! My 4 year old writes, knows all her letters and most sounds. She surprises me with all she’s learned from school and the best part is that she loves the it, and the teachers and friends. Another focus I appreciate is the encouragement to play with everyone. She truly is friends with everyone child there. Can’t recommend ELC enough!
